  • The question of police legitimacy, stop and search, lack of community trust and confidence. These are some of the major issues still to be address, two decades after the death of Stephen Lawrence, according to the National Black Police Association (NBPA).  Charles Crichlow, NBPA President said “It is unacceptable that in the twenty first century less than 5% of Police Officers in England and Wales are from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds”.   • We are all deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Paul McKeever. Paul was well known and admired by the NBPA during his time as leader of the Police Federation. He made genuine efforts to reach out to our organisation and to understand issues of race and diversity.    Paul was known as a true gentleman and a passionate strong leader who said what he meant and meant what he said. His intellect and knowledge of policing will be greatly missed, but most of all Paul McKeever the man who fought valiantly to preserve the office of...
