I was appointed Chair of the City of London BPA in 2009. In my role as Chair I provide work place support to BPA members, sometimes attending formal meetings and hearings. I also work with the other support networks, the Federation, Unions and various colleagues across the Force who approach me for the ‘BPA view’ on matters of policing relating to support development and progression.
I represent the BPA at the Force’s Staff Network Forum, which reports to The Force Equality Board chaired by the Assistant Commissioner. I have also assisted on planning committee’s for the annual Force awards and the pantomime run for the City children’s charity, both of which I have made an active contribution to, for example being the DJ at past Force award events and managing the lighting and sound for the pantomime.
I have been with the Force for over 20 years. I started in the Central Ticket office (Criminal Justice Unit) and then moved to Technology where I helped to implement the existing IT infrastructure. For the past 12years I have been a Project Manager and now a Programme Manager in the Corporate Programmes Office. I have managed the implementation of the Force’s IT network (LAN) and PNC Bureau I have recently completed Programme Management for the IMPACT programme which included the Police National Database (PND) and MoPi (Management of Police Information).
At the beginning of this year I was formerly accepted onto the national BPA cabinet as the new General Secretary. it is a great honour and also humbling to be representing an association that supports minority police officers and staff across 47 Forces in the UK and Northern Ireland.
