‘How Far Have We Come?”
Black staff career progression and under-representation within the Criminal Justice System – the impact on service delivery and community engagement
09.00 – 16.00 on Saturday 22nd March 2014 @ Newbold Revel Training College, Rugby CV23 0TH
We are delighted to announce that our 2nd annual Race and the CJS Symposium will now take place on Saturday, 22nd March 2014 at Newbold Revel Training College. The theme of the symposium has been changed to reflect growing concerns among Black staff regarding career progression, under – representation and the impact on CJS service delivery and community engagement.
The keynote speakers will include:
Dr Richard Stone, panel member of the Macpherson Inquiry and author of Hidden Stories of the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry
Mike Franklin, former IPCC Commissioner
The Symposium will also see the formal launch of our new umbrella body, The NILE Group. The creation of this unique cross – CJS organisation is based upon our recognition that Black staff networks need to work together to empower Black staff and our communities to hold CJS agencies to account. The launch of The NILE Group will be a historic milestone, so make sure that you are there.
There will be an opportunity socialise and network with colleagues on the evening before the Symposium and overnight accommodation (plus breakfast) is available.
If you require overnight accommodation, you need to inform your network representative immediately.
