Metropolitan Police Racism Complaint

The NBPA Express Outrage at Racism Complaint

Following reports in The Guardian Newspaper (30/03/12) regarding the CPS initial decision not to bring charges against any of the Police Officers involved with an allegation of racist conduct.

This incident once again highlights the issue of racism and the Criminal Justice System(CJS) and calls serious attention to the disturbing recent statistics on race with particular regard to the treatment of young black men in the CJS.

NBPA are deeply concerned that this issue undermines efforts to build and maintain trust and confidence of communities grappling with the impact of serious violent crime and escalating hate crimes. Moreover, questions are bound to be raised about the very fairness of our Police and CJS.

NBPA will be seeking answers with regard to this recent alleged incident and on the wider aspect of police race relations.
