The National Black Police Association (NBPA) are pleased to announce that their forthcoming conference and Annual General Meeting will be hosted by Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Black Police Association (DBPA) in Derby on October 15th – 17th 2019

Chief Constable Peter Goodman said: “I am delighted that Derbyshire Constabulary is the host for this year’s National Black Police Association Annual Conference; a year which marked the first Stephen Lawrence Day.

This year’s theme of youth engagement provides a superb opportunity to work with our communities to focus on the issues which concern young people, garnering their views and their ideas with a view to developing a collective way forward. I look forward to meeting you all in October, where I’m sure we’ll have an opportunity to explore this in detail.”

DBPA chair, Theresa Peltier said: “Derbyshire Black Police Association are delighted and honored to be this year’s hosting force for the National Black Police Association Annual Conference and AGM.

Derbyshire is a beautiful county incorporating a large portion of the Peak District and the southern end of the Pennines. As with most counties in the United Kingdom, our increased mix of diversity in all its forms has enriched Derbyshire. We look forward to welcoming you all and being part of the collective learning and unity that the NBPA conference brings.”

Tola Munro, President of the NBPA is looking forward to the event and commented, “Derbyshire is amongst the most beautiful counties of the UK with stunning landscape, classical country houses and full of diverse communities. These include the city of Derby which along with the rest of the East Midlands has historic black and Asian communities from around the world. These are reflected in the make-up of Derbyshire Black Police Association – one of the most energetic and active BPAs. They are heavily engaged with young people in the city and county, and I look forward to bringing Conference to see the links they have made.”
